The aim of this project was to revamp the existing special needs toilet/washroom at Merrilands primary school. The existing facilities were getting unhygienic and impractical for the rooms daily use.
This project had tight time restraints as all work had to be completed during a two week school holiday period and be ready for use for the schools return.
The scope of the project was to strip the rooms existing linings, flooring and sanitary fixtures, alter services for revised layout and provisions put in place for a disability hoist system then re-line ceilings, install Hydrapanel sheet system, vinyl flooring and all existing fixtures re-installed with a new shower and specialised bathing bed also.
One of the challenges on this job was to ensure that the adjoining special needs classroom were not affected with dust/debris. To ensure this we completely covered all items in the room with dust sheets and provided a protective floor covering prior to start of works to make sure that upon completion that we could achieve the cleanliness required owing to the classrooms use.
Another challenge was obviously working within the tight programme. Good planning was imperative, making sure subcontractors were booked in at exact times and keeping with the schedule. Communication was the most important factor here with the ability to keep subcontractors up to date with the projects status and to maintain high working relations as it was required to work alongside other trades to stay on track.
The school required a day to day update of progress and possible problems that may occur which Ross would provide to the Schools principal. Once the job was completed we received an email from Raj Patel (Architect) saying it had been a pleasure working with Ross and that the principal had mentioned how impressed he was with the professionalism, personality and workmanship provided.
We delivered this project on schedule and to a high standard.
